Dedicated to the memory of Barry

James Barry Schreder was born in Leicester on 3rd July 1937 to Helena and William Schreder and was an elder brother to Graham.  His career path was varied but notably amongst his job roles was being the youngest police officer in the country, being a registered mental nurse, a pharmaceutical representative and a senior teacher of economics and psychology.  It was whilst he was in the police force that he met his  wife Wendy, their relationship endured for 64 years and she was the love of his life.  Along with Wendy his family, daughter Joanne, son James, daughter-in-law Sally and grandsons Liam and George were the most important thing in his life, and he was immensely proud of all their achievements.  His other great passions included flying light aircraft and he was a member of the Leicestershire Aero Club for over 40 years, he was an active member of a number of Masonic lodges and chapters where, as the organist he was able to indulge in another passion - music.  He loved sports and in his younger years he played football and took part in the Leicester Mercury Road Walks.  In his later years he took up skiing and loved to watch the Athletics and Formula 1 races on TV.  He had a great love of travel and visited many countries around the world when travelling on cruise ships.  A generous and big-hearted man he made many friends across the years and all will have a tale to tell of time spent with him.

The family thank you for kindly considering giving a donation to LOROS in Barry’s name.  We cannot speak highly enough of the care and support they provided in the short time he spent with them.  They were true angels and we are enormously grateful to them.
